Lab Pack Chemist
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Lab Pack Chemist to join our environmental services team. In this role, you will travel with a CDL driver to various sites, where you will be responsible for safely identifying, categorizing, packing, and preparing hazardous waste for transport and disposal. This position requires a thorough understanding of hazardous materials and the ability to ensure compliance with all environmental and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, categorize, and inventory hazardous waste materials at various customer sites, ensuring accurate classification according to EPA, DOT, and other relevant regulations.
- Safely pack and label hazardous waste in appropriate containers for transport, ensuring all materials are handled according to safety protocols.
- Travel with the CDL driver to customer locations and disposal sites, assisting with the loading, unloading, and proper disposal of hazardous materials.
- Maintain detailed and accurate documentation, including waste manifests, packing lists, and inventory records, to ensure compliance with all regulations.
- Conduct safety inspections and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required to protect yourself and others from hazardous exposures.
- Communicate effectively with customers, team members, and disposal facilities to coordinate the safe and efficient transport and disposal of hazardous waste.
- Stay current with industry regulations and best practices related to hazardous waste management and disposal.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent experience in hazardous waste management will be considered.
- Knowledge of EPA, DOT, and other regulatory requirements related to hazardous waste.
- Previous experience in hazardous waste management, lab packing, or environmental services is highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage hazardous materials and maintain accurate documentation.
- Ability to travel frequently, often alongside a CDL driver, to various sites (50-60% travel), including overnight trips as needed.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with customers and team members effectively.
- Commitment to safety and environmental compliance, with experience using PPE and following safety protocols.
