We are looking for an Associate/Associate Principal to join our Laboratory Consulting Team in the United States.
This role would see you working as part of a talented specialist team and playing a key role on some of our most challenging projects in the Science & Technology Sector. This represents a fantastic opportunity to grow your career as a laboratory planner in a multi-disciplinary context.

We provide consultation, planning and design services on laboratories through all stages. As well as working directly for science clients, we continue to work for lead architects as well as other engineering consultancies.
From design concept to delivery to peer review and post-occupancy evaluation, our laboratory consultants can provide the support required at each stage. We are also able to draw on Buro Happold’s deep experience of integrated engineering and design knowledge from a wide range of projects around the world.

Key Duties:
Your day to day responsibilities will be varied and diverse, however your primary focus areas will include the following:
- Leading laboratory consulting projects as a Project Associate, which involves effective project management, design coordination and promotion of our multi-disciplinary work within a multi-disciplinary environment
- Drafting additional fee proposals for presentation to the client, where appropriate
- Representing Buro Happold and specifically Laboratory Consulting and providing consultancy advice to clients, lead architects and collaborators
- Participating in meetings with lead architects, consultants and contractors, etc. in a consultative capacity as part of a single and/or multi-disciplinary team
- Lead the design, analysis and consultancy on projects as guided by the Project Director
- Coach, mentor and support junior employees to ensure they can be as effective and successful, as possible
- Collaborate closely with the BHLC team in the UK
- Collaborate closely with the BH Science Sector Engineering/ Specialists Teams
- Collaborate closely with the BH/ Brightspot advisory teams
- Promote wellbeing of the project team and raise concerns around management of the project, including regarding client relationships
- Establish a strong internal and external network to contribute to work winning through bidding for projects and repeat work. Where appropriate, set personal work winning targets and promote other Buro Happold service offerings
- Propose multiple creative solutions to challenges, articulating and documenting the benefits/shortfalls of each to the client while taking into consideration other disciplines’ requirements
- Produce reports, presentations, models and drawings as required.
- Ensure maintenance of ongoing learning and Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
- Seeking out new opportunities to enhance the business' skills, services and marketability with respect to Laboratory Consultancy and the Science & Technology sector
Your skills and experience:
- 7+ years of relevant experience
- Significant professional experience in the sciences sector (and non-science sectors associated with fitout design)
- Experience in a comparable laboratory planning capacity.
- Strong analytical mindset with problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to take on leadership responsibility.
- Skilled in the basic use of Revit.
- Strong collaboration skills and a keenness to work in a multidisciplinary environment.

- Salary range of $100,000 to $140,000. This will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience
