Responsibilities

As a Laboratory Processing Assistant you will enjoy working in a diverse, dynamic team responsible for a variety of structured tasks including performing pre-analytic specimen processing, operating a variety of laboratory and office equipment including automated systems, entering information and test orders into the laboratory computer system, responding to phone calls seeking laboratory testing information, resolving pre-analytic specimen-related issues, performing complex reagent preparation, managing work unit supply inventory, providing training to others, and actively partnering with team members by fostering an inclusive work environment and respecting others with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives.

Qualifications

• DLMP employees that have been in their current lab/position for less than 2 years must attach an early release approval from their supervisor.
• Non-DLMP internal applicants that have been in their current department/position for less than 1 year must attach early release approval from supervisor.
• You must include your CV/Resume and a cover letter to be considered.
• Internal applicants must attach their 3 most recent performance appraisals.
• Associate degree in a health or science field preferred.
• Lab assistant experience preferred.
• Ability to be attentive to details and adhere to strict safety requirements for handling chemicals, reagents and infectious agents.
• Must be organized and have the ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to accurately read specimen labels and work with numbers to prevent mislabeling.
• Previous experience or knowledge of computers and keyboarding, telephone operations, and other office equipment.
• Must possess good human relations skills and be able to communicate effectively both orally and in written form.
• Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• Must be able to accommodate scheduling adjustments, off-shifts, holiday, and weekend work assignments.

Compensation Detail

Required education, experience, tenure, and internal equity will be considered when job offers are extended. The pay range for this position is $18.59 - 25.29 per hour.
