WHAT THE ROLE DELIVERS
The R&D Lab Technician will be involved in daily laboratory activities to support existing product qualification/optimization and new product innovation and development. The lab technician will work in a state-of-the-art R&D laboratory to perform physical, thermal, optical, and rheological testing of materials to the quality and accreditation standards of ISO9001, IATF16949, and ISO17025.
The lab technician will interact frequently with lab manager, product development managers, and chemists to drive project success by providing high quality and reliable data. They work as a team to support the global growth strategy of the Molding Compounds Medical market segment and the a regional strategy of the Molding Compounds Region Americas (RAM) markets for Automotive and LEOD.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Perform physical, thermal, optical and rheological testing on thermoplastics in the lab to support innovation projects, product evaluation and other internal and external customer requests (e.g. tensile test, flexural test, impact test, melt flow measurement, capillary rheology)
Participate in safety training and inspection to drive a safety culture
Support regular equipment maintenance, calibration, and verification
Support laboratory material and sample handling and managing
Support new procedure and new method development in the lab
Keep documentation and lab technical records up to date (e.g. SOPs, JSAs, template forms, testing data, lab reports, maintenance records, etc.)
Assist troubleshooting of issues with instruments operation, method, and data generation
WHAT WE ARE SEEKING
3-5 years of laboratory experience in lieu of degree will be considered
Experience working under Safety rules in a Chemical Laboratory (academic or industry)
Experience with thermoplastics testing esp. acrylics (i.e. tensile, flexural, thermal, melt flow, impact, UV/VIS, capillary rheology)
Competent with Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to learn new instrument operation and specific software use
Detail and documentation orientated
Strong quality and safety mindset
Good communication skills and ability to work well in an environment with diverse cultures
Good attendance record is required
