Job Opening: Lab Technician in Kernersville, NC – Specialty Textiles Manufacturer

About the Role:

We are seeking Lab Technicians for our client, a leading designer and manufacturer of specialty textiles and fabrics serving a variety of industries. Located in Kernersville, NC, this position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a premier company in the textiles industry.

As a Lab Technician, you will be responsible for testing incoming fabrics, reporting test results, verifying and operating lab equipment, and ensuring that all processes meet quality standards. This role requires basic math and reading skills, data entry proficiency, and a strong attention to detail. The position will start with a 4-6 week training period 1st shift before transitioning to 3rd shift hours.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct tests on incoming fabric, finished fabric, and coated fabric according to customer specifications and finished fabric standards.
• Accurately report test results on lab forms within designated timeframes.
• Operate and verify Instron equipment and other lab testing devices.
• Perform special tests as directed by the Lab Manager or QA Manager.
• Test incoming product mixes in line with batch card requirements.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area, adhering to safe work practices.
• Operate fire extinguishers, understand fire evacuation plans, and respond appropriately to chemical spills.
• Familiarize yourself with urethane coating requirements, testing procedures, and all relevant test equipment.
• Cross-train in additional areas to ensure productivity during low-volume periods.

Qualifications:

• Previous lab experience in a manufacturing or textiles environment is preferred.
• Ability to perform data entry in statistical quality control software.
• Basic math and reading skills are required.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
