LAB TECHNICIAN
Automation Personnel Services is looking for a hard-working Lab Technician for a company based in Decatur, AL. In this role, you will primarily be responsible for performing sampling and routine testing to determine chemical and physical characteristics or composition of solid and liquid materials to ensure process and quality control measures are effective. Must be available for rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, holidays, and on-call if needed.

In this role, you will primarily be responsible for performing sampling and routine testing to determine chemical and physical characteristics or composition of solid and liquid materials to ensure process and quality control measures are effective. Must be available for rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, holidays, and on-call if needed.
Pay Rate
$20.00 per hour.

Schedule and Hours
Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Possibility of working a rotating shift, overtime, weekends, holidays, and on-call if necessary.

Lab Technician Duties and Responsibilities
• Performs physical and chemical testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products, verifies that test results conform to product and customer specifications, as well as ensures timely delivery of test results, issuing certificates of analysis, filing testing information, and maintaining analysis databases.
• Prepares chemical solutions according to standard formulas, follows lab safety regulations at all times, as well as performs set up, adjustments, and operation of lab equipment including gas & liquid chromatographs, balances, colorimeters, refractometers, and other related equipment.
• Calibrates all instruments used in the quality control lab stations in the plant and in the QA laboratory on scheduled frequency.
• Assists in the general upkeep of the lab including preventive maintenance and cleaning of lab instruments, glass bottles, vials and tubes, as well as counters, cabinets, and fixtures.
• Maintains lab inventory, audit records of products and procedures essential for quality assurance, traceability, product recall, sanitation, HACCP, and hazardous waste management.

Lab Technician Qualifications and Requirements
• Background check, drug screen and the ability to lift 50 pounds is required.
• Steel toe shoes or boots are required.
• Must have a high school diploma or GED as well as a bachelors degree in a science or technical field (preferred). Equivalent experience in the field will be considered in lieu of education.
• Must be detail-oriented with good organizational skills as well as have the ability to work collaboratively on teams with both internal and external employees and customers, as well as work independently at times. Must have the ability to complete routine reports and correspondence, contribute to Root Cause Failure analysis reviews, solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists, and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
