About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) **Job Specialty:** Labor and Delivery **Job Duration:** 13 Weeks **Shift:** Night - 3x12 - 7pm to 7am (36 Hours) **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 Hours per week **Experience:** One year of experience preferred; Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty. **License:** State RN license or RN license from a participating state in the NLC - Required **Certifications:** - American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required - Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification - Required - Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) Certification/or Association of Women's Health, Obstetrics, and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Certification - Required **Must-Have:** - Therapeutic Patient Care Experience - Wound Care Skills - Medical Records Management - Mentoring Experience **Job Description:** - Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, and review of medical records and clinical data. - Evaluate patients' response and intervene to ensure optimal patient outcomes. - Develop and implement patient care plans and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. - Demonstrate competency in various therapeutic/diagnostic interventions, including but not limited to IVs, incision/wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections. - Promote, advocate, and collaborate to protect the health, safety, and rights of each patient. - Provide patient and family education through assessment of learning readiness, needs, and abilities. Evaluate the effectiveness of teaching. - Recognize the patient or designee as a full partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for the patient’s preferences, values, and needs. - Deliver relationship-based care with respect for cultural differences and diversity of human experience. - Delegate to non-RN personnel following State Board of Nursing and hospital policy. - Use time, personnel, equipment, and supplies effectively to provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care. - Serve as a professional role model for all staff, demonstrating ethical, legal, and professional nursing processes. - Manage resources and patient flow, matching nursing competencies with individualized patient and unit needs. - Follow standards of care, hospital policies/procedures, and regulatory guidelines to guide practice. - Function effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care. - Precept/mentor new staff or nursing students as needed. - Seek learning opportunities and continuing education to maintain skills and competence in clinical practice or role performance. - Maintain professional records providing evidence of competency and lifelong learning. - Evaluate own integrity and nursing practice concerning professional standards, guidelines, statutes, rules, and regulations. - Take action to achieve goals identified during the evaluation process. - Demonstrate commitment to the organization through participation in hospital and unit-based meetings. - Understand the value of measurement and the importance of continuous quality improvement data. - Use quality measures to improve performance and accountability for patient outcomes, experiences, and safe delivery of care. - Participate in unit-based quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities. - Use current healthcare research findings and other evidence to expand clinical knowledge, enhance role performance, and increase knowledge of professional issues.
