About the Job
POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs applied techniques for various chemical, immunologic and/or microbiological tests to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Works with a focus in specialty areas of the Laboratory, such as Chemistry, Serology and/or limited Microbiology. Receives and/or obtains specimens for laboratory analysis. Records laboratory test results. Assists in training activities and special projects.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Associates degree required.
- Bachelor’s degree in biological science or 60 semester hours of education including 24 semester hours of science courses (6 hours of chemistry; 6 hours of biology, and 12 hours in chemistry, biology or medical laboratory technology, or any combination preferred.
- Must provide education transcript prior to start of employment.
EXPERIENCE:
- At least one (1) year of clinical laboratory experience is preferred.
- Phlebotomy experience is preferred.
COMPETENCIES:
- Must be knowledgeable in laboratory automation and information systems.
- Must have access to reliable transportation to travel between multiple work sites; and travel is required in order to perform essential duties.
- Requires weekends and holidays.
