Laboratory Assistant - PT - Mornings - Norman Regional Health System

• Obtain specimens from patients for laboratory procedures.
• Instructs patients and other personnel on the proper procedure for specimen collection, labels, storage documentation, billing, and transport requirements.
• Retrieves and delivers documents, supplies, equipment, and specimens for clients and laboratory.
• Processes specimens for analysis, storage and reference lab testing

Education

• High school education or equivalent. 
• Requires some knowledge of medical terminology.

Experience

• 3 months phlebotomy experience, or a phlebotomy certificate with 32 hours of clinical rotation, or 6 months experience in a medical field providing patient care which includes drawing blood or blood processing, or current MLT student in clinical rotations, or one or more college level courses in a biological science

(Above requirements can be met by the equivalent combination of education and experience).

Licensure/Certification

• Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment.

Compensation

• $14.29-$23.24/hr depending on previous work experience
• Position qualifies for $1.00/hr AM rounds differential
