Manager, Laboratory (Hematology Lab)

Location: Clackamas, OR

Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking a dedicated and experienced Manager to lead the Hematology Laboratory at our partner medical center in Clackamas, OR. This position offers an exciting opportunity to oversee laboratory operations, ensure quality standards, and contribute to a collaborative and supportive work environment.

Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership & Oversight:
  • Plan, organize, and supervise the hematology laboratory team, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality customer service.
  • Manage all teammate employment activities, including hiring, promoting, evaluating, and disciplinary actions.
  • Provide work direction and guidance to laboratory staff.
  • Determine staffing plans that promote the most effective use of all teammates and ensure coverage during absences.
• Quality Assurance & Compliance:
  • Ensure the accuracy and promptness of test results and reporting in the hematology service line.
  • Apply clinical theoretical knowledge and scientific methods in problem-solving.
  • Monitor workflow and delegate responsibilities to team members effectively.
  • Collaborate in the laboratory's quality improvement program, including performance and evaluation of key laboratory outcome indicators.
  • Evaluate regulatory and certification requirements, ensuring the section is inspection-ready.
  • Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to meet and exceed regulatory and accrediting agencies' requirements.
• Financial Management:
  • Participate in the development and management of the departmental budget.
  • Monitor departmental expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related field.
• Experience: 6 years of clinical laboratory experience (this is a New York regulatory requirement to be a supervisor).
• Licensure: Current Florida license as a Supervisor in Hematology required.
• Certification: Certified by a professional laboratory certifying agency (e.g., ASCP, AMT) or eligible.
