Job Summary:
+ Sample preparation and data analysis for mass spectrometry experiments.
+ Carrying out proteomics analyses for the qualitative and quantitative characterization of complex biological samples (cell cultures and tissues).
+ Applying and developing bioinformatics and statistical methods for proteomics data.
+ Instrumentation quality control.
+ Communication with collaborators about experimental design and results.
+ Assisting with preparation of technical reports, publications, and presentations.
Key Responsibilities:
+ _Prepare samples for analysis:_
+ Biomolecule extraction.
+ Preparation and characterization of internal standard solutions.
+ Method comparison and optimization.
+ Maintenance of technical analytical equipment, including preparing buffers.
+ _Data acquisition, analysis, and validation:_
+ Acquire and analyze proteomics data.
+ Prepare report of quantitative findings including statistical analysis.
+ Maintain laboratory research records of all experiments performed.
+ _Dissemination of results and assisting in generating publications:_
+ Oral and written presentation of technical results.
+ Meet with clients (faculty, students, and researchers) to present results of technical analyses.
+ _General Lab Operations Duties:_
+ Communicate regularly with manager and clients (timely phone/email responses).
+ Generate written protocols.
+ Maintenance of computers and software.
+ Ordering laboratory supplies and equipment.
+ Maintenance of research records, such as data archiving and notebooks.

Minimum Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
+ A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
+ One (1) to two (2) years research experience in a laboratory setting.
+ One (1) or more years' experience preparing samples for LC-MS analysis.
+ One (1) or more years' experience with bench science and analytical instrumentation.
+ Experience with bioinformatics.
+ Experience with AUC quantification of LC-MS experiments.
+ Experience with data analysis software.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques.
+ Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
