Our client is a fast-growing diagnostic solutions company specializing in cutting-edge and new methods geared towards precision medicine that would be an exciting and challenging role for a Molecular Laboratory Technician – 2nd or 3rd shift. They are seeking a seasoned Laboratory Supervisor (Tuesday – Saturday) to manage daily operations within designated areas, ensuring timely completion of tasks and upholding their high commitment to quality and service.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$38 – $48/hr DOE
Position Overview:
This Laboratory Supervisor role involves overseeing the effective functioning of laboratory equipment, personnel, supplies procurement, non-conformance resolution, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards, including our Quality Management System (QMS). The Laboratory Supervisor will offer exceptional support to leadership, working flexible shifts from Tuesday to Saturday.
Responsibilities of the Laboratory Supervisor:
- Oversee all aspects of laboratory services, including staff training, competency, quality management, safety, inventory, machine maintenance, and regulatory compliance
- Fulfill duties as outlined in § 493.1463 of 42 CFR 493.1463, and if delegated, assume responsibilities as a technical supervisor for a designated department
- Implement new programs, tests, methods, instrumentation, and procedures through investigation, proposal development, parallel testing, and progress monitoring
- Collaborate with pathologists, other laboratory managers, technical coordinators, laboratory directors, and customer care teams to resolve problems
- Adhere to CAP/CLIA guidelines, our Ethics and Compliance Program, and all applicable safety regulations
- Assist in drafting standard operating procedures (SOPs) conforming to CAP/CLIA guidelines
- Manage equipment maintenance, calibration, and re-verification according to established procedures
- Ensure proper inventory and laboratory supply levels are maintained
- Recruit, select, orient, and train laboratory personnel, and ensure ongoing training and education for federal and state requirements
- Oversee performance management, including annual and semi-annual appraisals and competency assessments
- Coordinate team meetings, establish communication pathways, and review their effectiveness
- Ensure proficiency testing adheres to SOPs and CAP/CLIA guidelines and investigate non-conformances or educational challenges
- Maintain laboratory productivity by monitoring workload, identifying peak and slack periods, and making operational or staffing adjustments
- Take corrective actions in case of non-conformances and suspend reporting until the test system is functioning correctly
Qualifications for the Laboratory Supervisor:
- Florida State Technologist’s license is required
- Florida Supervisor license in Micro or Molecular Pathology is highly preferred
- Experience as a lead technologist or supervisor in a laboratory
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a CAP/CLIA laboratory

Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a physical, chemical, or biological science is required
- ASCP certification is preferred but is not required
