The Department of Surgery (Division of Acute Care Surgery) isseeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Lab Technician to join ourdynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supportingongoing research initiatives in the field of trauma and critical care. Theresearch includes the study of mechanisms of injury in hemorrhagic shockincluding the loss of oxygen transfer in the microcirculation and trauma-inducedcoagulopathies seen after shock. The position involves working closely with theresearch team, participating in experimental procedures, and ensuring thesmooth operation of the laboratory. This position would focus on laboratorywork that would promote these goals through cellular and animal models ofdisease and analysis of therapeutic compounds.
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in science or related field
Experience in a physiology or pharmacology laboratory setting
Experience with animal models of cardiovascular disease and good laboratory skills.
Experience working independently in a laboratory setting
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with shock models and coagulation
Experience with a team and group science
Experience with lab management tasks
Salary Range: $40,000 - $50,000
