Job Summary
Under general supervision, perform complex chemical and physical analyses on a wide variety of materials for the support of technical service, research, and production activities.
What will you do?
- Understanding of laboratory tests to be performed on process chemicals/fluids
- Adhere to the principles of the Quality System
- Perform tests per defined methods including ICP analysis of customer samples.
- Record data in accurate and concise manner
- Recognize and react to out of spec data
- Make laboratory preparations
- Help keep laboratory clean and all equipment in good working order
- Complete assigned work in a timely fashion
- Adhere to all lab safety guidelines and maintain a safe work environment
- Provide support to lower level technicians
- Perform new procedures with general supervision
- Ensure that all equipment and machines in your area of control are managed with regards to safety, maintenance, calibration, and availability.
- Interaction with internal and/or external customers
- Report data to internal and external customers with possible recommendations
- Assist in new employee training
- Assist more senior level technicians and chemists with method development
- Support troubleshooting of problems and follow-up with corrective actions.
- Ensure instruments are calibrated and meet integrity testing
What do we look for?
Key Education or Certification Required:
High School Diploma, GED, or similar required. Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or physical sciences preferred.
Required Minimum Number of Years of Relevant Experience:
3 year previous lab experience required. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Experience in ICP analysis preferred.
Required Skills and Competencies:
Language Ability:
A good command of the English language is mandatory.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Internet software and Database software.
Competencies:
Position holder has good communication and prioritization skills. Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, work on different projects at the same time, follow instructions, and think analytically. Must be a team player who is result/customer oriented.
Work environment:
While performing the duties of this job the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The associate must be able to safely work in a variety of potentially hazardous situations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to carefully, and precisely manipulate samples, apparatus, and sensitive instruments. The employee is frequently required to stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk sit and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, or no more than local or country regulations allow. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
