Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED with vocational program certificate in welding or closely related field. Minimum of three months related work experience in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications: Associates degree preferred.
Working Hours: Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 1:50 p.m. or 4:00 p.m. 9:50 p.m. (Hours may vary) 20 hours per week for fall, spring and/or summer semesters. This is a non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $15.50 per hour. This position is not eligible for benefits.
Key Responsibilities:This is not a comprehensive list of responsibilities.
- Assist Instructor in Welding labs to oversee students in operation of lab equipment in college rules and guideline; monitors students and lab activity for any safety violations and reports violations to supervisor.
- Prepares /sets up for classes; includes cutting material, setting up shop equipment, and maintaining cutting tool inventory, notifying supervisor hen supplies are needed.
- Cleans, Check and performs maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure optimal functioning; maintains equipment maintenance records for area of responsibility.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Must be able to relate and work with faculty and students individually and in groups.
- Must be able to exercise good judgement and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Must have strong organizational skills and ability to work in a multi-task environment maintaining positive customer relations.
- Must supervise students in a lab environment.
- Must maintain, repair and handle tools and tools supplies, as well as demonstrate tool functions and safety procedures for students.
- Ability to use a computer, and understand communications, instructions, regulation and procedures.
- Requires sedentary work that involves walking or standing, exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis, and routine keyboard operations.
