Laborer - Fabrication Shop Environment at TOPS Staffing

TOPS Staffing has a great opportunity for a General Laborer looking to work in a fabrication shop in Cheswick PA.   This is a daylight shift position, offering a direct hire situation (hired on by union company from your first day of employment).

As a General Laborer you can expect to help out in various divisions of our fabrication shop.  This will involve working with assembly, warehouse, material handling (parts and material delivery through out facility), helping load and unload trucks, helping with mixing of cement slurries, some shoveling of material will be involved in this role.

To be successful in this role you have to be willing to take on various tasks and jobs in our facility that will change on a daily basis.  You don’t have to be mast of any trades or skills for this role but open to learning how to assist in each of our divisions, and open to moving around the facility as needed.   Looking for somebody with a can do attitude that is willing to learn our production process and the different divisions we operate here.  Good opportunity to get your foot in the door as a laborer and then bid into a more specific role down the road that would warrant a pay raise for taking on more specialized role.

Job Details:
•    Direct hire opportunity 
•    Starting pay rate for this position is $21+ per hour
•    Steady daylight shift
•    Hours: 6:30am to 3pm schedule Monday to Friday + OT on occasional Saturday.
•    Some overtime is available in this position, may include weekend work when needed

Duties/Responsibilities:
•    Material handling – Overhead crane & forklift experience is preferred
•    Machine operation – Loading, operating and unloading of machine.
•    Mixing specialized cement slurry used in production process.
•    Helping out in all divisions within our facility on an as needed basis.
•    Loading and unloading trucks
•    Warehousing stocking, helping prepare outgoing items by palatizing, wrapping and securing items.

Education and Experience:
•    High school diploma or GED equivalent
•    Prior material handling experience 
•    Prior machine operation experience in production facility is preferred
•    Overhead crane operation experience is preferred but not required
•    Experience working with and mixing one of the following or something similar to cement, grout (tile finishing), or drywall mud.
•    

Physical Requirements:
•    Prolonged periods standing
•    Working in confined spaces - Inside of large metal tanks
•    Bend, crawl, kneel, and sometimes climb to preform work
•    Must be ok working in a non-tempered building environment.
•    Must pass Pre-employment drug screen which includes marijuana - No exceptions made for medical card holders.
