Laborer, Grounds Maintenance - Satellite Services, Inc.

The Laborer, Grounds Maintenance maintains grounds of industrial, commercial or public property such as buildings, camp and picnic grounds, parks, playgrounds, greenhouses, and athletic fields, and repairs structures and equipment, performing one or more of the following tasks: Cuts grass, using walking-type or riding mowers Trims hedges and edges around walks, flower beds, and wells, using hedge trimmers, weed line trimmers (weed eaters), clippers and edging tools. Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth, using shears and other hand tools. Sprays lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer or insecticide. Plants grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs. Waters lawn and shrubs during dry periods, using hose or activating sprinkler system. Picks up and burns or carts away leaves, paper or other litter. Removes snow from walks, driveways, roads, or parking lots, using shovel and snow blower. Spreads salt on walkways and other areas. Repairs and paints fences, gates, benches, tables, guardrails, and outbuildings. Assists in repair of roads, walks, buildings, and mechanical equipment. May clean comfort stations, office and workshop areas, and parking lots by sweeping, washing, mopping and polishing. These duties and others as assigned, must be performed within the performance and the scope of safety as established by regulation standards or by company policy.

Physical/Environmental Requirements:

The incumbent performs works primarily in a setting out of doors and must be able to frequently stand, walk, and sit during extended periods. These requirements are necessary to operate riding mowers to cut and trim grass, plant vegetation, rake, shovel, etc. He/she must be able to lift/carry 50 pounds and push/pull 100 pounds, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and handle, in order to load and unload materials and equipment; must be able to alert oneself to safety hazards and have a method of communication so those around can understand and respond; must be able to see and tell colors, as driving and operating power equipment is required. Exposure to various temperatures and weather including snow, rain, wind, dust, dirt and the like.

Required Job Qualifications:

• HS Diploma or Equivalent
• Security Clearance (or ability to obtain upon hire)
• A minimum ofone year of experience in landscape maintenance work including experience in mowing with push mower and weeding.
• Must be able to work independently
• Experience in operating small trucks and grounds equipment

Necessary Licenses or Certifications:

• Valid Driver's License

Work Schedule:

• Full-Time (40 hours per week)
• Various shifts, which may include Saturdays and Sundays
