Salary Range: $18.40 - $23.00 hourly
Hiring Range: $18.40 - $20.70 hourly
Job Summary:
Seasonal work with the Boyd Lake Water Treatment Plant to help upkeep grounds as well as the facility with opportunities to build treatment certification and water treatment operation skills.
Schedule:
Six months, 40 hours per week. Must have the ability to work weekends, may be asked to work overnight with operation staff.
- Three seasonal positions available: 2 day shifts and 1 night shift (shifts are flexible and will be set up once hired)
Experience, Knowledge, Skills:
- Must be at least 18 years of age;
- Knowledge of how to operate lawn mowers and other landscaping equipment;
- Knowledge of sprinkler systems, running them and repairing them;
- Good communication skills in person and on phone;
- Ability to work alone as well as on a team;
- Good organizational skills and work ethic; ability to prioritize work schedule, daily, weekly and projects;
- Able to follow direction and follow through on duties;
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record;
- Must be able to pass a drug test.
Essential Functions:
- Weeding (manually pulling);
- Maintaining sprinkler system;
- Pruning, mowing and trimming;
- Possible construction projects;
- Maintenance of hardscape, sweeping, rocks or gravel;
- Painting /staining on wood;
- Keeping track of tools and equipment;
- May occasionally be asked to assist in the office with phone, filing, or other duties if weather is inclement;
- Emptying trash and building/facility maintenance (cleaning);
- Assist in plant operations once trained (including Copper sulfate dosing of our raw water pond, laboratory work, backwashing filters, etc.);
- Other tasks as assigned;
- Must be able to prioritize work;
- Following instructions as well as taking initiative to carry out duties without being told, once trained;
- Following all safety, and COVID protocols.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Exposure to adverse weather conditions;
- Exposure to chemicals, electrical and plumbing materials, dust, dirt, noise, and insects;
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a group.
- Manual labor, prolonged standing, kneeling, bending, walking, and climbing stairs;
- Ability to lift and move objects of up to 50 pounds for short periods;
- Manual dexterity enough to operate hand and power tools, move objects, operate vehicles and equipment;
- Flexibility enough to bend, twist and reach as to load and unload equipment, supplies or tools;
- Ability to move over rough, uneven and rocky surfaces in performance of grounds maintenance and repairs;
- Vision enough to perform functions such as identifying materials necessary to complete maintenance on equipment and grounds and to operate vehicles and equipment.
