About the Job
The LabVIEW Test Development Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and debuging software applications for use in Automated Test Equipment (ATE). This role will be expected to conduct analysis and collaborate with subject matter experts in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for information storage, processing, presentation, manipulation, display, or reporting. End product may be special use, customized, or commercial software.
Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities:
- Design, develop, test, debug, and support Labview-based software solutions for use in the calibration and test of Dynisco-Viatran pressure sensors.
- Develop and execute processes for software versioning, revision control, and bug tracking via Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and software revision tools.
- Deploy and maintain alignment and awareness of solutions test processes across all Dynisco sites.
- Work with manufacturing engineering in both Franklin, MA, and Perak, Malaysia, to procure, build, implement, verify, and validate new test systems, as well as document work instructions and train employees. This role is expected to be hands-on with some travel required to Malaysia site (5%).
- Document software requirements and determine hardware requirements with minimal oversight of a senior engineer. Design software and hardware from requirements in accordance with established design principles, procedures, and specifications.
- Under minimum oversight of a senior engineer, test software in lab and manufacturing environments to ensure compliance to requirements.
- Develop automated data pathways from test stands to databases in a Windows environment.
- Become an expert on our measurement techniques, test automation, and data processing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D and manufacturing, to drive continuous improvement and optimize testing processes.
- Provide input for software estimates for changes from either internal or external sources.
- Must be able to handle working in a dynamic environment with parallel responsibilities and competing priorities.
- Maintain the appropriate balance between speed and perfection while never compromising quality.
- Occasionally perform verification and validation testing related to new products to understand future production test and tooling needs. Drive actions to implement new test and tooling equipment as required or directed.
- Producing efficient and elegant code and overall system design based on requirements
Education
- Certified LabView Designer (CLAD) preferred, at minimum.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering preferred.
Qualifications
- 5-10 years software development experience developing, testing and deploying National Instruments Labview programs and applications, preferably with application towards data acquisition and test stand control
- Extensive hands-on experience in using and automating test and measurement equipment.
- Ability to build and design comprehensive Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) and Graphical User Interfaces (GUI)
- Ability to implement proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control algorithms
- Experience with interfaces such as mA, voltage, GPIB, modbus, ethernet, IOLink and HART required
- Expertise with common test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, function generators, source measurement units, parameter analyzers, spectrum analyzers, VNAs, and switch matrices, power meters, etc.
- Ability to read and understand electronic and electrical schematics
- Excellent prioritization, time management, and organizational skills required
- Strong MSOffice skills required
- C/C++, SQL or Python experience a plus
- Able to think strategically as part of a group to understand and evaluate the potential impact of long-term decisions
- Effective written and verbal communications skills are imperatives to socialize and influence the organization.
- Willingness to roll up sleeves, solve problems on the fly, and navigate cultural change related to the implementation of new test systems.
- Experience with statistical data analysis, including topics such as exploratory data analysis, basic statistical tests, design of experiments, gauge repeatability, curve fitting, statistical process control, and machine learning a plus.
Travel Requirements
- Ability to travel up to 5 percent of the time (primarily international)
