This position reports to the Dupuis Field Office located at 23500 SW Kanner Hwy, Canal Point, FL 33438.
The Land Management Technician 2 position is a highly skilled technician level position that performs a variety of natural resource and land management field activities on District lands located in Martin and Palm Beach counties. This position supports and participates in programs administered by the Land Stewardship Section to assure District-owned lands are properly managed for ecological, recreational, and/or agricultural purposes.
The preferred candidate should have practical experience in basic land management functions including exotic plant control, mechanical vegetation control, prescribed burning, habitat restoration, monitoring contractors, and performing infrastructure maintenance activities such as road repairs, culvert replacements, and mowing of trails and public use sites. The incumbent should have practical experience in the operation of tractors, farm implements, heavy equipment, and off-road vehicles.
Employment Guidelines:
High School Diploma or GED and minimum of 4 years experience operating earthmoving equipment and farm tractors and performing land management functions such as exotic plant control, vegetation management, prescribed burning, and natural lands property management including some lead work or supervisory experience. The salary range for this position is $51,854.40 to $54,620.80.
Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Licenses:
Valid State of Florida Driver’s License. Possession or ability to acquire a State of Florida Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), a State of Florida Pesticide Applicators License, and a State of Florida Prescribed Burners Certification within 180 days of hire date.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment:
This position primarily works in the field with regular exposure to hot, humid, and smoky environments in remote, wet, and/or heavily vegetated areas. Incumbentmay be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
Due to the District’s response role and in the total scope of emergency management, this position may at times, be required to provide support before, during and after major storm events and emergency situations, such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies, depending on assigned emergency response role.
