Position: Law Clerk I
Responsibilities:- Assists attorneys with all phases of criminal litigation, including pretrial discovery, motions, hearings, trials, and appeals.
- Reviews and analyzes documents, transcripts, and files to gather relevant information for investigative actions and grand jury subpoenas.
- Utilizes electronic databases to perform litigation support tasks, including organizing, indexing, tagging, and summarizing documents. Conducts database searches for relevant information.
- Performs both objective and subjective document reviews, including coding materials for case-specific legal issues, themes, and further investigation.
- Works closely with trial attorneys to gain subject matter knowledge relevant to the case.
- Assists attorneys in preparing for and conducting interviews with witnesses, investigative sources, and expert witnesses.
Qualifications:
- Law degree, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school (must have completed at least one year of study).
- Sound knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and resources.
- Familiarity with federal criminal investigations and trials is desirable.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with proficiency in legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
- Hands-on familiarity with computer applications such as word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and document management systems.
- Experience in eDiscovery procedures and tools. Experience with Relativity is preferred, though experience with other eDiscovery platforms is required.
Location: Fully remote position, occasional on-site work may be required, candidates located in the National Capital Region are preferred
Hours: Full-time position: 40 hours/week, 8 hours/day
