About the Job
We are working with a Tier 1 supplier of plastic components to the automotive industry to find a Lead Buyer. This person will report to the General Manager and be responsible for leading and overseeing a team of advanced project buyers, identifying purchasing needs, and recommending supplier sourcing for new model programs.
Summary
The Lead Buyer oversees advanced project buyers, identifiespurchasing requirements, and recommends suppliers for new model programs from the Estimating phase through to Launch, ensuring cost, quality, and delivery objectives are met.
Responsibilities
Support the Estimating team in the RFQ process by obtaining quotes, timing, and deliverables for components, outsource tooling, and secondary equipment.
Maintain a database for standardization and benchmarking.
Recommend suppliers and prices for the Estimating phase and sourcing decisions at the Award Stage.
Analyze quotes to assess supplier competitiveness and provide feedback.
Create and maintain a Component Cost Data Management file.
Participate in the APQP process, supporting Product Development Teams to ensure on-time parts, correct pricing, and quality from award to launch.
Engage in feasibility and design reviews to validate technical requirements and their impact on costs.
Obtain quotes and place orders for prototype and pre-production components.
Manage customer-directed supply sourcing contracts.
Develop and implement commodity sourcing strategies for resin and components.
Conduct supplier benchmarking activities.
Collaborate with related departments and manufacturing plants to meet operational needs.
Analyze market and technology trends for various commodities.
Ensure compliance with ISO 14001 and ISO/TS 16949 standards, and company policies.
Provide evidence for management system audits and participate in corrective actions.
Promote teamwork and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
Comply with Quality and Business Operating Systems, health, safety, and environmental legislation.
Adhere to the Company Value Statement and Standard Code of Conduct.

Requirements
Secondary school diploma or equivalent
5+years' experience in a purchasing or estimating role.
Experience in a manufacturing automotive environment.
Ability to read blueprints
Demonstrated negotiation skills.
Understanding of SAP concepts and systems
Proficiency in MS Office
Understanding of organizational expectations, standards, policies, and procedures.
Ability to perform well under pressure.
Sound financial and business insights.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment.
