QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination equivalent to: three years experience in school custodial work including one year in a lead capacity.
STARTING WAGE: $15.90 per hour

BASIC FUNCTION:
Oversee and perform custodial services and light maintenance required to maintain assigned school buildings and adjacent grounds areas in a clean, orderly, and secure condition; train and provide work direction to assigned staff.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Perform responsible custodial activities independently at an assigned elementary school site or other facility during a day shift; maintain buildings, office space and adjacent grounds areas in a clean, orderly and secure condition.
- Plan, organize and schedule custodial services at the school site and perform and/or lead the work of others in performing a variety of custodial tasks.
- Confer with site administrators and assigned supervisor regarding the care, cleaning and maintenance of facilities; adjust work schedules to fit the needs of assigned site; respond to the custodial needs of staff.
- Coordinate and review the work of custodial staff in maintaining a neat, clean, and safe school; assign special projects as needed.
- Requisition custodial supplies in accordance with established procedures; maintain proper inventory levels; issue supplies and equipment to staff.
- Assure security of facilities during assigned hours; open doors and gates of school plant; monitor facilities for vandalism and safety and fire hazards and report to appropriate personnel; respond to emergency calls after hours as assigned.
- Train and provide work direction to assigned staff; assist in the selection, training and evaluation of regular staff.
- Make minor, non-technical repairs as needed such as, but not limited to, replacing light bulbs and lighting tubes, unplugging toilets and sinks; identify and submit maintenance problems into Maintenance Direct.
- Lead and participate in the cleaning and sanitizing of restrooms, showers, locker rooms, shops, cafeterias, gymnasiums, offices and related facilities; dust and polish furniture and woodwork; empty waste receptacles; spot mop spills; remove gum, debris and graffiti as needed.
- Pick up paper and other debris from school grounds, walkways and areas adjacent to school facilities; remove and dispose of banners and posters; sweep concrete surfaces adjacent to school building.
- Operate custodial equipment such as vacuums, mops, small hand and power tools, buffer/scrubber machines, steam cleaners and other equipment as necessary.
- Plan and coordinate custodial work as necessary to prepare facilities for special events; move and arrange furniture and equipment.
- Participate, plan and oversee major cleaning of the school plant during school vacation periods and summer break.
- Provide substitute arrangements for regular custodial staff when absent.
- Maintain various records related to facility usage, inventory and assigned activities.

- Modern cleaning methods including basic methods of cleaning and preserving floors, chalk and white boards, carpets, furniture, walls and fixtures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
