About the Job
This position performs and reviews analysis and design activities in completing complex and unique engineering design projects from general drawings and instructions. Position requires extensive knowledge of engineering design principles and practices. Assumes responsibility for technical accuracy and constructability of finished designs. Capable of engineering assignments from education and experience background but does not have a degree in engineering. Works with minimal supervision from a Lead Engineer.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Interprets and analyzes general design provided by engineers.
• Prepares detailed design and analysis for engineer’s approval.
• Acting under minimal supervision, prepares produces construction drawing packages by providing detailed designs using company standards and drafting techniques.
• Assumes responsibility for technical accuracy and constructability of finished designs.
• Communicates and works closely with all disciplines.
• Works with vendor drawings.
• Develops layouts from job scope and vendor information.
• Checks other designers’ drawings.
• Checks and reviews shop drawings from equipment suppliers.
• Develops estimates for new work using scope of work and drawings.
• Performs in a Lead Designer role on projects
Qualifications:
• Experience as a Senior Designer with a minimum of 15 year's experience in drafting/design in the Oil & Gas, Refinery, or Chemical industry is required
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience utilizing 2D AutoCad
• Utilizes AutoCAD 3D Software
• CadWorx and Isogen experience required
• Technology training in Drafting and design from an accredited school. Associate’s degree preferred
• Proficient in use of MS Windows, MS Outlook, MS Excel and MS Word
• Experience with a consulting engineering firm preferred
• Familiar with industry codes and standards
• Experience acting as a lead designer and checker on midsized projects
• Experience creating and interpreting P&ID’s
• Candidates should be within daily commuting distance of Baton Rouge
