Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. As a Direct Support Professional, you will be responsible for providing direct care and support to individuals with disabilities, helping them lead fulfilling lives and promoting their independence. You will play a crucial role in assisting individuals with daily activities, personal care, community integration, and fostering meaningful relationships.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with disabilities, ensuring their safety, well-being, and comfort.
- Assist individuals with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and medication administration, following established protocols and guidelines.
- Support individuals in daily activities, such as meal preparation, housekeeping, and transportation, while promoting their independence and choice.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, ensuring that goals and objectives are met.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment by promoting socialization, community integration, and participation in recreational activities.
- Document and maintain accurate records of individual progress, incidents, and any changes in behavior or health status, adhering to confidentiality and privacy policies.
- Collaborate with families, guardians, and other professionals to ensure effective communication and coordination of care.
- Attend training sessions, workshops, and team meetings to enhance knowledge and skills in providing quality care.
- Adhere to all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures, including health and safety guidelines.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or training in a related field is a plus.
- Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a similar caregiving role is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish meaningful relationships with individuals and their families.
- Compassionate and patient nature, with a genuine desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others.
- Ability to adapt to changing needs and situations, while maintaining professionalism and composure.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to handle challenging situations effectively.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in documenting and maintaining accurate records.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, as some travel may be required.
