Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- This role requires a proactive approach to safety, strong presence on the floor, and the ability to work closely with plant personnel to foster a culture of safety and compliance.
- Must take a hands-on approach and actively promote safety and environmental health on the plant floor
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits on the plant floor to identify and mitigate hazards
- Respond promptly to safety incidents and near-misses, conducting thorough investigations and root cause analyses
- Develop and deliver EHS training programs for plant personnel, including new hire orientation, safety procedures, and emergency response
- Assist in the development and implementation of safety programs and initiatives aimed at reducing workplace hazards
- Work with cross-functional teams to implement safety improvements and best practices
- Oversee the continued compliance to a comprehensive process safety management (PSM) program
- Ensure compliance with OSHA PSM standards, EPA RMP regulations, and other relevant safety regulations
- Communicate PSM systems and metrics for Operations; identifying trends to rationalize the allocation of appropriate resources to areas where the risk is highest.
- Participate in or lead process hazard analyses (PHA) and risk assessments to identify potential safety hazards.
- Lead investigations of incidents and near-misses
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices
- Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health and/or engineering
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the Environmental, Health, and Safety field
- Strong Process Safety Management (PSM) regulatory knowledge
- Manufacturing, Engineering, Process Safety Management, and Operations experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of programs
- Travel 0-10%
- Advanced degree in EHS (M.S.)
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
- Chemical manufacturing experience
