WSP is currently initiating a search for a Lead Geotechnical Engineer for our Texas, Houston Office .
Your Impact
+ Perform professional geotechnical engineering work including design for tunneling projects, subsurface investigations, soil foundation engineering, settlement analysis, soil erosion, lateral earth pressures, geological hazards, underground water, slope stability, and operations to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, construction, or operating permits for commercial, industrial, building, environmental, infrastructure, and transportation projects.
+ Apply high-level geotechnical engineering techniques and processes to identify improvements for various infrastructure project phases including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, construction, and operation.
+ Develop construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates; preparing construction safety and phasing plans, and updating infrastructure layout plans that require coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients.
+ Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, drillers, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
+ Planning, estimating, and conducting subsurface investigation and laboratory testing programs for transportation and energy projects.
+ Capable of using commercially available geotechnical software
+ Perform geotechnical proposals, analyses, reports to renewable energy solar, wind farms, substation, and transmission lines projects
+ Manage projects or geotechnical tasks, manage subconsultants
+ Communicate with clients, respond to clients' requests, and attend design and progress meetings
+ Oversee field activities such as geophysics survey, pile load tests, and drilling.
+ Providing geotechnical support during construction or field investigation as needed.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline.
+ Minimum 7-10 + years of relevant experience in geotechnical design and construction.
+ Texas PE registration.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
+ Proven experience in Texas area geotechnical practice and geology.
+ Proven experience with TxDOT and Design Build projects.
+ Proven experience in geotechnical project planning, design and preparation of reports, drawings and specifications.
+ Geotechnical: Experience with combination of GeoStudio (SLOPE/W, SEEP/W, SIGMA/W, &QUAKE), LPILE, GROUP, SNAIL, MSEW, PLAXIS, DeepEX, Slides, gINT.
+ CAD: AutoCAD, MicroStation.
+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP"s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
+ Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP"s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master’s Degree in Engineering.
+ 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred.
+ Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.
