What You'll Do
The Lead Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst is responsible for developing and implementing GIS-based solutions for the organization to address project challenges. This role requires a strong understanding of GIS principles, software applications, and project management methodologies. The GIS Lead will collaborate with interdisciplinary project teams to collect, analyze, and visualize geospatial data, providing valuable insights to inform decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Interdisciplinary Support:
- Develop and implement GIS-based solutions for the organization to address project challenges.
- Create and maintain GIS databases, maps, and other geospatial products.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate GIS data with other organizational systems.
- Collaborate with project teams to identify GIS requirements and develop project-specific GIS plans.
- Collect, process, and analyze geospatial data to support project goals and objectives.
- Data Management:
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity within the GIS environment.
- Develop crossover data sharing processes with organization's AutoCAD Civil 3D services.
- Manage and maintain GIS software and hardware systems.
- GIS Analysis and Modeling:
- Perform advanced spatial analysis and modeling using GIS software.
- Develop and apply geospatial analysis techniques to support decision-making.
- Create maps and visualizations to communicate complex spatial information effectively.
- Technology and Innovation:
- Stay current with GIS technologies and industry best practices.
- Research and evaluate new GIS tools and technologies for potential implementation.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of GIS-based innovations.
Qualifications
- 10+ years GIS experience
- Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and develop crossover data sharing processes.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Project management experience is a plus.
Desired Skills
- Knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Revit.
- Experience with remote sensing and image processing.
- Familiarity with database management systems (SQL).
- Understanding of specific industry-related GIS applications.
