POSITION TITLE: Lead Housekeeper
REPORTS TO (TITLE): Director of Plant Operations
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
To maintain a clean and sanitary environment throughout the hospital, as well as leading and developing the housekeeping team to ensure optimal success. The Lead Housekeeper maintains knowledge of, participates in further training provided, and understands the potential risks regarding occupational health hazards (e.g. bloodborne pathogen exposures).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Directly assist the Director of Plant Operations in hiring, training, and developing staff of the Housekeeping team.
· Report to DPO any facility, safety, department or staff issues when they happen or when you learn of them so they can be addressed in a timely manner.
· Lead and mentor Housekeeping staff to accomplish objectives as laid out by facility leadership.
· Communicate performance/conduct to the DPO incase the Housekeeping team does not meet hospital expectations.
· If assigned, find coverage for housekeeper staff absences.
· As directed, assist with interviewing and selection of high-quality candidates to the Housekeeping team.
· Ensure we are properly stocked of housekeeping supplies and linen in conjunction with the vendors who we order the supplies and linen from.
· Place orders with the vendors for housekeeping supplies and linen.
· Conduct Environment of Care/E.V.S. rounding at intervals established by the Director to ensure the housekeeping staff are doing their job correctly and to the level of cleanliness a healthcare facility requires.
· Restock linen rooms with clean linen.
· Represent the Housekeeping service on hospital committees as assigned, including but not limited to: Patient Safety, Infection Control, Environment of Care, and Quality Assurance Performance Improvement.
· Replenish restroom supplies and maintain records as directed.
· Clean floors in-patient and non-patient areas.
· Remove trash and waste from designated areas of facility.
· Remove and replace soiled linens from designated patient areas.
· Maintain facility and furnishings in clean, orderly fashion.
· Adhere to organization's safety, security policies and procedures.
· Maintain up-to-date records on supplies.
· Provide good customer service and represent facility in a positive manner.
· Participate in activities which enhance professional growth and development.
· Adhere to instructions and deadlines.
· Perform related duties, as requested.
· Uphold the Organization's ethics and customer service standards.
Requirements
· High School degree or equivalent preferred.
· Hospital experience preferred.
· 1 year of leadership experience preferred.
· Elementary reading, writing and math skills required.
· Basic English usage required.
· Knowledge of and skills in applying basic cleaning and housekeeping procedures and methods required.
