Pay: $29.00-$41.00/hr, depending on experience
Responsibilities:
- New Construction Installation: Lead the installation of HVAC systems in new commercial buildings, coordinating with general contractors, architects, and other trades to ensure systems are integrated into the building's construction plan.
- Pre-Construction Planning: Participate in pre-construction meetings to align HVAC installation timelines with the overall construction schedule, identifying potential conflicts with other trades (plumbing, electrical, etc.).
- Scheduling and Workflow Management: Manage the installation schedule to ensure HVAC work is completed in conjunction with other construction milestones, avoiding delays in the overall project.
- Installation of Ductwork and Equipment: Oversee the installation of ductwork, piping, air handling units, compressors, and control systems, ensuring proper placement and connection in accordance with design plans.
- System Testing and Startup: Conduct system startups and commissioning for new HVAC systems in coordination with the general contractor, ensuring the system operates according to design specifications before handover.
- Compliance with Construction Codes: Ensure HVAC installations comply with local building codes, safety regulations, and construction industry standards, working closely with building inspectors as required.
- Team Management on Site: Supervise and train installation crew members on site, ensuring safety protocols are followed and work is performed efficiently and to a high standard.
- Construction Documentation: Maintain detailed records of the installation process, changes to designs or blueprints, and any on-site issues encountered during construction.
- Material Management: Oversee the delivery and management of materials, ensuring all necessary HVAC components are on site and ready for installation at each phase of construction.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in commercial HVAC installation, with a focus on new construction projects.
- Experience leading and supervising installation crews, including training apprentices and junior installers.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and HVAC design plans.
- Strong knowledge of local and national building codes, safety regulations, and construction industry standards.
- Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) coordination in new construction.
- Ability to manage time effectively, coordinate multiple tasks, and work within strict construction deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to quickly identify and resolve installation challenges on-site, ensuring the project stays on schedule.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Licenses and Certifications:
- EPA certification
- Valid HVAC license or certification (as required by local or state regulations).
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- Additional certifications such as NATE (North American Technician Excellence) or relevant manufacturer training are a plus.
