Lead Mechanic with $5,000 Bonus - Waste Connections

Alaska Waste, a Waste Connections company, is now hiring for a _safety conscious_ Lead Diesel Mechanic to join the team at our location in Kenai, AK! Previous waste experience would be a huge _plus_ !
The pay range will be $30.00 to $36.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. We also offer regular wage increases, great family benefits, and stable, year-round work.
The schedule will be Monday-Friday. The shift is 10:00am-6:00pm Monday-Friday. We also offer a $1,200.00 tool allowance each year. $200 boot allowance a year as well as uniforms provided.
Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Perform repairs and assigned preventative maintenance services. Performs inspections, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulics, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
+ Utilize vehicle computer electronic systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.
+ Complete required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
+ Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
+ Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
+ Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns.
+ Maintain a clean, safe work environment in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
Other Responsibilities Include:
+ Collaborate with other diesel mechanics and has strong interpersonal skills.
+ Demonstrates time management, organization, and problem-solving skills.
+ Strong customer service skills with drivers.
+ Manage the repairs of electrical and mechanical components.
+ Manage routine maintenance.
+ Ensure quality repairs are made while meeting guidelines.
+ Service a wide variety of equipment.
+ Maintain current CDL license to test drive and deliver as needed.
+ Specialize in Cummins and Paccar engines.
+ Maintain a log in computer system of all the history of repairs to each job.
+ Maintain equipment in clean and working condition.
+ Climb ladders and stairs, work in small restrict areas and lift up to 40 pounds.
+ Follows all Waste Connections repair shop regulations and standards.
Qualified candidate must have:
+ Valid Driver's License.
+ Class B CDL or ability to obtain within 90 days of start of position.
+ Tool set, toolbox and proper personal safety equipment required.
+ Basic computer skills and ability to learn test diagnostic laptop and software.
+ Welding experience a plus.
+ Minimum of a High School diploma or GED.
