Summary:
The Lead Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for the scheduling, performance, and quality of Nuclear Medicine and PET-CT procedures. At the direction of the Special Imaging Manager, oversees the technical staff, technical procedures, patient care, and workflow to ensure safe and effective patient care in the diagnostic area. Provides leadership and guidance to staff by exemplifying Children’s values and excellent customer service behaviors.
Responsibilities:
- Acts as a role model and facilitator.
- Works in collaboration with all levels of departmental personnel and other departments, physicians, and clinicians throughout the hospital.
- Performs examinations according to established protocols set forth by the medical director.
- Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with hospital policies/procedures as well as state and federal regulations.
- Adheres to the Nuclear Medicine and PET-CT competencies.
- Supervises operations of designated areas of responsibility to ensure that the standard of care across the system is consistent and quality, timely services are provided.
- Ensures a state of constant preparedness for inspections by ODH, Joint Commission, and other regulatory bodies in conjunction with the Department Manager.
- Accepts clinical responsibility and accountability for the quality and level of care provided to all patients and evaluates the appropriateness of care.
- Manages staff scheduling, maintains team oversight, and delivers training.
- Performs clerical duties in EPIC, PACS, and hospital computer systems as required.
- Monitors nuclear and PET-CT equipment, coordinating repairs, and maintaining up to date protocols in collaboration with the Radiologists.
- Accepts and satisfactorily completes miscellaneous duties as requested by the Department Manager, Radiologist, and Director of Radiology.
- Records and maintains disposal log of radioactive materials.
- Provides education and training to other technologists, physicians, residents, students, hospital ancillary personnel, and other personnel as needed.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of the patients served regardless of age.

Other information:
Technical Expertise
- Experience in hospital EMR (EPIC) and PACS.
- Experience working with all levels within an organization.
- Previous hospital experience preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is preferred.
Education and Experience
- Must hold active certification as a Registered Technologist in Nuclear Medicine, either with ARRT(N) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
- Ohio Department of Health (ODH) licensure is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Strong communication (verbal and written) interpersonal and organizational skills required.
- Years of relevant experience: 2 years in Nuclear Medicine and 1 year in PET-CT preferred.
