Job Summary
The Lead Registered Nurse is responsible as the office point of contact for nursing and clinical activities. Assists the Office Manager in maintaining daily clinical operations and quality of care in accordance with established procedures, standards and regulatory requirements. Demonstrates and promotes professional development. Maintains a professional, safe and therapeutic environment for rendering care
Core Job Responsibilities
- Acts as the central point of contact for nursing and clinical standards within office setting.
- Acts as the central point of contact for nursing clinical practice work flows as it relates to the electronic medical record (EMR), including documentation that supports patient centered medical home (pCMH) and quality initiatives (i.e. closure to gaps in care, overdue results, etc.)
- Designated as the resource for the nursing/clinical team related to nursing scope of practice and skill competency.
- Acts as mentor regarding nursing performance and learning needs.
- Assists the Office Manager with the orientation of new hires on clinical policy and procedures; assists in the professional development of staff; plays a key role in the competency assessment process and nursing skill checklist completion.
- Designated as the nursing resource liaison between internal/external departments, such as laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, and other key clinical areas.
- Designated as either the primary or back-up coordinator to the NYS Vaccine for Children's Program and other vaccine related programs.
- Assists office manager in coordinating and communicating established nursing activities (I.e. educational sessions).
- Maintains knowledge of the organizational policy and procedures in order to navigate, support, and ensure professional, safe environment while following regulatory requirements.
- Ensure clinical policies and procedures comply with current state and federal guidelines.
- Clinical expert in their areas ofassignment (primary care or specialty); allows engagement with staff nurses in clinical decision making and problem solving.
- Ability to identify and recommend solutions to procedural issues/opportunities and works directly with the Office Manager to resolve. Recommendations are to ensure quality, compliance, safety and cost efficiency.
- Ensure and maintain adequate clinical supplies, medication storage and PAR level management.
- Ensures clinical equipment remains in operation condition. Ensure emergency equipmentlmeds remain up to date and in appropriate operating condition.
- Attend office staff meetings and relay pertinent information to clinical team members timely.
- Atterid periodic training sessions and meetings pertinent to position.
- Perform all duties as nursing support to assigned provider or office; continues in support role.
Education/Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or healthcare related field
- At least 2-3 years’ experience working within the primary care or specialty office setting
Licensure/Certification Requirements
- Active NYS Licensed RN
- BLS/CPR Certification
