This position will support our construction and environmental remediation projects across a variety of business sectors. A successful candidate for this position will provide project planning, scheduling, cost management and project progress reporting support.
This position will report to the VP of Project Controls.
Primary responsibilities will be preparing and maintaining the project baseline schedule, maintaining and updating the current project schedule, establishing the project WBS and Control Account structure, developing and managing the cost baseline and monthly cost analysis updates, performing earned value analysis, ensuring cost and schedule data is consistent with contract requirements, the statement of work, drawings, and specifications; development of staffing plans, estimates to complete, variance analysis; and other project controls related activities as required.
Location: This individual can reside in any location in the Central or Eastern US and report to the closest WSP office. Our preferred locations are Houston, TX, Charlotte, NC, Philadelphia, PA and Chantilly, VA. After initial onboarding and orientation, this individual can work a hybrid schedule.
Your Impact
• Work under the direction of the Project Manager to support the planning, coordination, and evaluation of project controls reporting.
• Engage specifically in planning, staffing, scheduling, budget management, quality control, safety, and coordination of subcontractors and Internal technical and support staff.
• Strong collaborative scheduling, forecasting and analysis.
• Responsible for developing, updating, and analyzing detailed execution schedules in Primavera P6
• Develop and implement monthly schedule updates and variance reports in accordance with processes and procedures.
• Assess contractor monthly schedule updates and support analysis of potential delay claims and change orders.
• Identify and support risk mitigation plans.
• Develop and implement effective cost control procedures to track project expenses, analyze cost variances, and identify areas for cost-saving opportunities.
• Work closely with design and construction teams to evaluate time and cost-saving options and recommend value-added changes to optimize project costs.
• Attend a variety of project meetings with project stakeholders to track and solve cost, schedule, and risk management issues.
• Maintain financial reports for individual project subtasks and provide roll-up reports that summarize the subtasks.
• Review resource and funding availability and procurement documentation to ensure conformance to approved project budgets.
• Manage change order processes and evaluations to assess the impact of proposed changes on project costs and schedules.
• Participate in development of project estimates, budgets, forecasts, estimates to complete, and cost trends.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field is required.
• Minimum 7 - 10 years of combined field and office experience performing scheduling and cost control involving large-scale projects.
• Experience with multiple stakeholder/funding sources is required.
• Proficiency in cost control/cost management methods and applications including earned value analysis and cost forecasting.
• Perform time impact analyses (TIA) and forensic delay analysis to determine the extent of the impacts of potential delays during construction.
• Experience in Ares PRISM
• Expert ability with Primavera P6
• Experience in Risk Management tools such as @Risk or Acumen Risk
• Excellent communication skills, written, oral and interpersonal skills to deal with a high-pressure environment.
• Must pass background check
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working with large and challenging teams.
• Proven experience in effectively reporting and communicating cost and schedule variances and recommendations to wider project team.
• Experience in preparing high level project reports and documentation.
• Candidates with advanced degrees or professional certifications and accreditations in Engineering, Construction Management and related fields are preferred.
