Lead Server - Waterfalls Buffet - Willamette View

JOB SUMMARY:

Provide excellent service to our residents, guests, and staff in the Waterfalls dining room. Waterfalls is a buffet style dining room in which the Lead Server is expected to serve meals to the buffet line. Provide positive team leadership at all times and act as the service expert for the team. Acts as the team trainer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure that residents and their guests receive an enthusiastic, prompt, positive, service driven dining experience. Display a fresh, optimistic, and amiable attitude; you are here to serve our residents/guests and provide them with an exceptional dining experience.
• Arrive at work in complete uniform ready to greet residents/guests and begin work at scheduled time in a clean and professional appearance.
• Need to be a dynamic and hardworking team leader; must provide direction and a helping hand at any time.
• Need to be able to think quickly on your feet and communicate direction to team and successfully multi-task large sections.
• Complete and oversee all assigned side work/cleaning projects and opening/closing duties. Ensure team completes all tasks to department standards in a timely manner.
• Demonstrate consistent and punctual attendance for daily shift meetings and the ability to articulate new information to residents and guests.
• Provide service as outlined in the F&B department Steps of Service and act as an expert in all aspects of our Steps of Service.
• Ensure all timing standards are met either by accomplishing them personally or insuring that another member of the service team accomplishes them. In the absence of a manager responsible to resolve all timing issues.
• Utilize suggestive selling techniques and acts as a role model to team members.
• Make verbal, visual, or physical contact with all tables every time in section.
• Ensure team maintains and correctly handles restaurant equipment and supplies so that unnecessary wear and tear, breakage, and waste do not occur.
• Ensure all voids and promos are approved and signed by a manager and all End-of-Day reports are complete and accurate.
• In absence of a manager, acts as team leader to resolve any service or food related issues.
• Comply with all safety policies and procedures demonstrating safe work practices. Identify and report unsafe or hazardous work conditions. Report all workplace injuries and illnesses to a supervisor.
• Ability to memorize menu items including the ability to describe at least three main ingredients and the method of preparation for each item. Acts as service expert for team. Able to answer all team questions regarding menu.
• Respond promptly and positively to management direction and requests.
• Acts as team trainer
• Participates in interviewing and makes recommendations to management on potential team members.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• May serve as a representative on safety committee or other ad hoc committee.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have a minimum of six months server experience and a proven record of demonstrating skills in leading others successfully.
• Posses a positive attitude, empathy for guests, timeliness, desire to learn, attention to detail and routine, ability to work independently and ability to lead a team.
• Food handler's card required within 30 days of filling position.
• High school education required.
• Requires strong interpersonal communication and leadership skills to relate with residents and lead co-workers.
• When training is complete must have high understanding of Point of Service terminal functions and all explained job duties.
• Basic reading and writing skills.
