A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A LEAD SURVEYOR
In this construction surveyor role, you will oversee project specific survey needs and ensure project components are built to the correct dimensions in the correct location. You ensure that the information provided by both the owner and the designer is correct and that the existing conditions match that which is shown in the project documents. You will use your knowledge of the latest surveying equipment and techniques; you are part field management and part quality control.
As a leader, you enjoy mentoring overseeing other field surveyors as needed. Your communication skills come in handy as you build strong relationships with coworkers, clients, and vendors. You provide actual project surveying and layout when required. When utilized, you will direct and coordinate outside survey services utilized.
Working with the Survey Manager, you help ensure the project survey equipment is up to date, serviced regularly and maintained. Taking on the role of lead surveyor fills you with accomplishment!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A LEAD SURVEYOR
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or bachelor's degree in Surveying or related field preferred.
- LSIT, CST or Professional Survey licensure is preferred.
- At least five years of survey and layout experience is required.
- At least five years of work experience with similar types of survey equipment required.
- Experience and a comprehensive understanding of GPS based survey development and layout.
- Experience in the construction industry is highly preferred.
- Experience with heavy highway and bridge construction is preferred.
This is a Safety Sensitive Position requiring work on project sites, including federal projects. Project sites contain various safety hazards associated with heavy construction. This position may require working at heights, around heavy equipment, and under constantly changing circumstances. This position will be subject to more stringent drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.

LEAD SURVEYOR WORK SCHEDULE
