Job Description:
The Lead Systems Engineer will supervise a team supporting the requirements, design, development, test, integration, and troubleshooting of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on airborne platforms. The Lead SE will be a subject matter expert with comprehensive knowledge of job area and in-depth knowledge of project engineering and management. They will manage large, complex project initiatives of substantial importance to the organization with minimal oversight or direction on and off-site. Communicates within and outside of the organization to explain and influence changes to practices, processes and approaches. Provides input into new products/processes and implements operational plans that have measurable impact on business or functional results.
Essential Functions:
- Review and evaluate electrical wiring diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirements
- Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning
- Write effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements
- Translate the voice of the customer into system level requirements
- Perform requirement traceability
- Develop and evaluate trade studies for accuracy and completeness
- Write subsystem specifications based on system level requirements
- Evaluate alternative solutions and establish preliminary system designs
- Review and evaluate diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirements
- Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals
- Extended hours at times
Job Qualification Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
- Must possess an active DoD Secret with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret (SCI) clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
- Hands-on experience with testing, integrating, and verifying Avionics hardware and/or software
- Aircraft communication system integration and communications ground/flight test support
- Experience writing subsystem specifications based on system level requirements
- Experience configuring equipment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, Teamcenter, etc.
- Experience conducting verification testing
- Experience developing, authoring, and implementing system test plans
- Familiarity with Aircraft Maintenance Manuals
- Familiarity with FAA documentation (Regulations, Advisory Circulars, Airworthiness Directives, etc.)
- Experience engineering efforts involving FAA-certified general/transport category aircraft
- Experience troubleshooting aircraft systems including diagnosis of malfunctions
- Qualifications must be quantifiable and measurable
- Willingness to travel
