- Project Management
- Projects are an essential function of the OpEx role; managing projects as either a Project Owner or an adjunct advisor to the project
- Complete projects within scope, budget, and on time.
- Create and execute project plans in coordination with the PMO group to meet company requirements and objectives. As issues arise, communicate risks and mitigations
- Identify resource needs and assign individual responsibilities on projects and work with area managers to secure and schedule project resources
- Facilitate project meetings with clear responsibilities and timelines
- Present and submit capital expense approval requests for management review
- Communicate well with teams and with management.
- Complete project tasks as an individual contributor
- Identify and Implement Operational Improvements
- Find opportunities for cost savings or avoidance and efficiency improvements
- Implement improvements in a sustainable manner, with buy-in from key stakeholders
- Understand key performance indicators, including utilization metrics
- Calculate return on investment and understand company P&L/EBITDA w/ Finance
- Help prioritize key initiatives aligned with company strategic priorities
- Know how to successfully manage change including communicating well with teams and with management
- Evaluate automation opportunities to increase throughput and reduce cycle times
- Understand Best Practices and Available Tools
- Apply knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma tools to implement sustainable improvements
- Apply change management methodologies to implement sustainable improvements and get buy-in from teams and laboratory sections
- Facilitate Kaizen Event and Six Sigma Kick Off activities
- Utilization and Profit Cube
- Routinely publish utilization metrics for lab sites
- Update utilization Test Keys at least annually
- Train lab managers on utilization calculations
- Review and publish profit cube data for lab management review including revenue, key customer and utilization trends
- Organizational Development
- Develop and teach training as needed to help the organization understand Lean and Six Sigma principles.
- Mentor others on Lean, Six Sigma and Change Management
Regulatory Compliance
- Know and follow applicable regulatory requirements (GMP, GLP, ISO, etc.).
- Know and follow company policies and procedures.
- Complete required training on time.

Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office and laboratory environment. Typically works in an office environment but may occasionally be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, keyboards, computer mouse, telephones, photocopiers, projectors, and file cabinets. This position may also include laboratory, warehouse, or clean-room environment " and applicable PPE. May occasionally walk on slippery or uneven surfaces.
Travel requirements.
Occasional travel during the business day. Some out-of-the area and overnight travel may be expected. May be required to attend trade shows, seminars and conferences in addition to sales travel.
Physical requirements:
Must be able to stand/walk for 10% of the day and 90% of the day sitting at a desk or on the computer.
Must be able to occasionally lift a maximum of 45lbs.
Education and experience requirements:
Bachelors degree and relevant experience required:
- Bachelors degree (BS) in Engineering or relevant discipline from an accredited university
- Certification or experience in Six Sigma and Lean (e.g. Black Belt accreditation)
Business/Management training required:
- Demonstrated experience with Lean Manufacturing including leading Kaizen events
- Demonstrated experience with Six Sigma including project completion
- Proficient with use of computers, software applications, and spreadsheets
