Overview:
The Learning Center Office - Skokie Student Employee will provide customer service, academic support, and administrative support to students, staff, and faculty. Students in this role will be trained on administrative tasks, customer service, and resources at Oakton Community College. Student employees will provide as- needed services to Learning Center users. A typical day could include staffing front desks, answering phones, date entry, or completing a special project detailed by Learning Center staff.

Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday: 8:00 am- 4:30 pm and Tuesday: 4:00- 8:00 pm
Schedule Flexibility:
Schedule is set for the entire semester, flexibility is available for taking exams, studying, or emergencies
Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities and Learning Outcomes:
- Continuous training on technology, campus resources, cultural competency and equity to all students (PF)
- Perform accepted assignments as described in the terms outlined by the supervisor and staff (PF)
- Provide office support with general projects including but not limited to: data entry, GradesFirst, copying, and marketing (PF)
- Participate in professional and academic goal setting for the semester (CD)
- Promote Learning Center activities and workshops (CM)
- Maintain confidentiality and secure handling of paperwork containing personal or academic information (PF)
- Refer visitors and students to proper resources/offices based on an individual's need (EI)
-Communicate with staff and supervisor regarding any challenges, issues, or new ideas that arise during the day in completing processes and tasks (CT, CM)
- Complete other projects as assigned (TW, PF)
- Process calculator loans (TW, TC)

Candidate Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities):
- Must be enrolled at Oakton Community College in at least 6 credit hours during the fall and spring semesters. Employed over the summer is allowed for students taking at least 1 credit class during the summer, or students continuing registration into the following fall semester.
- Must have an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher and be in good standing at Oakton Community College.
-Able to stand and sit for extended periods of time.
-Demonstrated reliability and responsibility.
- Friendly, flexible, organized, courteous, and punctuality a must.
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills with strong detail orientation preferred.
- Proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office and Google technology (GSUITE), as well as, upcoming new technology preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently or as a team.
- Ability to complete assignments at both the Skokie and Des Plaines campuses is preferred.
- Speaking additional languages is helpful, but not required, to serve the student population.
