POSITION SUMMARY:
The Learning & Development Specialist role at Ocean State Job Lot (“OSJL” and “Company”) supports the Learning & Development (“L&D”) Team in the coordination, administration, and delivery of training programs and resources, including, but not limited to, scheduling training sessions, managing registrations, tracking training records, and generating reports on training activities. The Learning & Development Specialist role plays a key role in the administration and maintenance of the Company’s Learning Management System (“LMS”). This role directly reports to the Learning & Development Instructional Designer role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in the coordination and administration of various L&D programs, including, but not limited to, scheduling training sessions, managing registrations, and communicating with participants.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, Facilitator(s), and L&D Instructional Designer to ensure that training materials are up-to-date, accessible, and aligned with learning objectives.
- Support the implementation and delivery of training programs, workshops, and events, ensuring smooth logistics and participant engagement.
- Track and maintain associate training records including attendance, completion status, and certification data.
- Generate and analyze reports on training activities, learning outcomes, participation rates and assess the effectiveness of learning initiatives.
- Oversee the administration and maintenance of the LMS.
- Manage and organize learning resources, including, but not limited to, training materials, documentation, and multimedia assets, in Google Drive and the LMS.
- Lead new hire orientation, and assist in the development and implementation of onboarding and orientation programs.
- Respond to associate inquiries related to L&D programs, providing timely and accurate information and support.
- Collaborate with the L&D Team to continuously improve training materials and processes based on feedback and evaluation data.
- Promote a culture of learning within the organization, encouraging associates to engage in continuous development opportunities.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access levels within the LMS, ensuring data accuracy and security.
- Upload, organize, and update learning content, including e-learning modules, videos, and other training resources, on the LMS platform partnering with the L&D Team.
- Monitor LMS usage and performance, troubleshoot technical issues, and liaise with IT support or vendors for problem resolution.
- Conduct regular audits of LMS data to ensure data integrity and compliance with training requirements.
- Stay informed about LMS updates and features, provide training to users as needed, and create user guides and/or tutorials.
- Assist in the development of LMS dashboards and reports to track learning metrics and usage patterns.
- Support the implementation of new LMS features, upgrades, or system enhancements.
- Keep abreast of industry best practices in LMS administration and propose improvements to optimize the learning experience.
- In partnership with the OE&L Coordinator, assist with OSJL’s Internship Program and New Hire Onboarding Orientation.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- An Associate's degree, Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
- 2 or more years of proven experience as a Learning & Development Specialist or in a relevant role.
- 1 or more years utilizing a Learning Management System.
- Related office experience including, but not limited to, familiarity with systems, ability to serve as an initial point of contact, professional communication, and data entry is required.
- Proficient in data entry skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Platforms (i.e., Sheets, Docs, Sites, Drive, and Slides).
- Demonstrated ability adapting to change and pivoting quickly to support the needs and initiatives of the business.
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English; additional Spanish language skills are preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Works primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety and health hazard
potential. - Works in an office environment remaining stationary at a desk, table, or computer workstation for extended periods of time. Frequently uses near vision for reading and computer tasks.
- Hybrid work schedule with at least 3 days in office per week.
- Work may be completed outside of the company locations. The role is responsible for setting up a professional and ergonomically safe work environment and to be available during working hours. While working remotely, the role will be required to have reliable Internet connection.

The salary range for this position is between $21.00 - $24.50 / hr. Salary commensurates with experience.
