About the Job
The University of Alabama System is accepting applications for the position of Legal Assistant. This is an on-site position based in Huntsville on the campus of The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH). Reporting directly to the Chief University Counsel, the Legal Assistant provides a wide variety of administrative support to multiple attorneys and a paralegal in the UAH Office of Counsel.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to maintain strict standards of confidentiality.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks while remaining flexible as urgent matters arise.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Strong technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
Education/Training/Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in an administrative role.
- Three (3) years of experience as a Legal Assistant/Legal Secretary at a law firm or legal office, preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide confidential executive-level administrative support including screening phone calls, welcoming guests, and scheduling meetings.
- Receive and manage incoming and outgoing communications and documents using electronic document management systems.
- Review, analyze, and prepare client-submitted contracts, addenda, amendments, policies, and procedures for legal review by attorneys.
- Provide ongoing strategic training to stakeholders on campus.
- Notarize documents for faculty, staff, and students.
- Various other projects as assigned.
