AmTrust Financial Services, Inc. a fast-growing multinational property and casualty insurance company has an immediate need for a Legal Assistant in their New Jersey Workers’ Compensation Staff Counsel team.
The ideal applicant would have 3+ years of Workers’ Compensation experience. Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple competing deadlines. The position requires comprehension of Workers’ Compensation and attention to detail. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) Familiarity with NJ Courts Online a plus. Familiarity with litigation case management system a plus as well.
This is a deadline-driven, task-oriented work environment. The ability to stay organized, self-motivated, to work independently and on a collaborative team is vital.
Responsibilities:- Opening new files for applicable team/venue (daily)
- Entering hearings to calendar for applicable team/venue (daily)
- Preparing and sending discovery packets (daily)
- Setting up any following up on discovery tasks
- Opening, scanning, saving, distributing mail for team (daily)
- Opening, saving, distributing faxes for team (daily)
- Pulling and saving all filings from Courts On-Line, distributing to attorney (daily)
- Answering phones during assigned week
- Saving exam notices with specifics on how to get records and letter to doctor
- Creating appropriate tasks and appointments for exams
- Generating exam notices to opposing counsel and adjuster
- Making phone calls as needed at direction of attorney
- Sending any/all correspondence at direction of attorneys
- Backing up legal assistants when needed
- Backing up paralegals when needed
- -3+ years of workers compensation experience
- -An Associate or Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate is a plus
- -Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple competing deadlines
- -reading and comprehending complex instructions from attorneys and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) Typing 60-70 wpm is essential.
- Experience working in an all-inclusive document management platform is required.
- Ability to stay organized and on top of a few hundred files
The salary range for this role is $25.00/hr-$30.00/hr. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in New Jersey. Base pay offered may vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics. This range may be modified in the future.
