Position: Legal Assistant in Immigration Services
Job Description:
The Legal Assistant is responsible for supporting the director of the Hispanos Exitosos office in the preparation and management of legal documents related to immigration processes. The role involves researching regulations, drafting documents, and coordinating with clients to gather necessary information, ensuring immigration procedures are carried out efficiently and in compliance with current legislation.
Responsibilities:
• Assist in the preparation of asylum applications, residency, work permits, and other immigration processes.
• Draft legal documents, letters, applications, and other forms required for immigration procedures.
• Review legal documents to ensure they comply with the requirements established by immigration authorities.
• Maintain communication with clients to collect information, documents, and data necessary to complete procedures.
• Conduct research on immigration regulations, procedures, and specific requirements for each type of visa or immigration process.
• Organize and maintain physical and electronic case files, ensuring that information is up-to-date and easily accessible.
• Coordinate and track legal deadlines for document submissions and send reminders to both clients and attorneys.
• Assist in the preparation of meetings, hearings, or immigration interviews, including gathering relevant materials.
• Answer calls and inquiries related to cases, providing basic information and referring more complex issues to the lawyer or advisor.
• Update case databases, ensuring all information is properly recorded.
Requirements:
• Certification as a Legal Assistant.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in the legal field, preferably in immigration law or related services.
• Basic knowledge of immigration laws and procedures.
• Excellent organizational and document management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Attention to detail and strong analytical skills to review legal documents.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in office tools (Word, Excel) and case management software.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of English is desirable.
