The ideal candidate will have experience in insurance defense or trust and probate law and will be responsible for providing critical support to attorneys in these practice areas. Job Description:
As a Legal Assistant, you will assist attorneys by handling a variety of administrative and legal tasks. You will be involved in preparing legal documents, managing case files, and ensuring that all deadlines and court filings are met. The position requires someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced legal environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and organize legal documents such as pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and correspondence.
- Assist attorneys with case management and maintaining accurate and up-to-date case files.
- Draft and file court documents in accordance with legal deadlines.
- Communicate with clients and other parties to coordinate case progress and meetings.
- Handle discovery responses and document collection.
- Assist with trial preparation, including preparing exhibits, managing trial binders, and coordinating witness schedules.
- Perform legal research when necessary.
- Provide general office and administrative support to attorneys, including scheduling meetings and maintaining calendars.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in insurance defense or trust and probate law is required.
- Strong proficiency in legal document preparation, case management, and legal research.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal software.
- Ability to work independently while also being a team player.
- Knowledge of California court rules and procedures is a plus.
