Rimkus Consulting Group, Inc., a global leader in the field of engineering consulting, is in need of technical professionals to promote our continued growth. We currently seek an experienced Legal Nurse Consultant to support operations in our Houston office. We are currently only considering candidates in the Houston area since meetings with our Houston staff will be required at times.
The Legal Nurse Consultant (LNC) will serve as a resource to consultants in the Biomechanics and Transportation areas in cases involving voluminous medical records. LNCs should have the ability to decipher handwritten medical notes. They should be able to do a complete, thorough evaluation of medical records in order to assist engineering consultants. LNCs typically will receive and solicit work directly from among the consultants within the firm. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone seeking to explore the world of forensic consulting.
Responsibilities:Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Medical record review in the context of accident/injury investigation;
- Deposition transcript and legal document review in the context of injury investigation;
- Create chronologically-organized summaries of medical records to support injury causation and injury biomechanics evaluations;
- Abbreviated Injury Scoring of injured persons from medical records;
- Produce accurate injury diagrams for consulting staff and external clients; and,
- Medical research support for consulting staff.
As part of their work, the LNC is expected to prepare excellent written communications that require minimal revisions. The LNC should also be capable of synthesizing technical information, making effective presentations to market their expertise, and providing technical contributions within their area of expertise.
Qualifications:Job Requirements:
Professional Registration and Licenses
- Licensed Registered Nurse.
- Experience in emergency department, operating room, or orthopedics
- LNCC certification a plus.
- Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist a plus.
Minimum Experience
- Minimum of 5 years in nursing.
- Legal nurse consultant experience preferred.
Special Skills
- Must possess an open attitude and willingness to learn and develop skills as a legal nurse consultant.
- Must be outgoing and able to interact with staff and clients.
- Must be able to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Must possess excellent verbal communication skills and technical writing abilities.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office.
