Legal Secretary - Litigation (54940) - R.L. Barclay & Associates

Our client, a growing Austin area law firm, seeks a full-time, talented legal assistant with a minimum of 2 years of defense litigation experience to support multiple attorneys in an insurance defense law firm. They offer a great place to work with a supportive team and friendly environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
· Prepare legal correspondence
· Draft basic pleadings, discovery, notices, and agreements
· E-file and e-serve legal documents
· Manage and organize electronic and physical files
· Code and enter attorney time entries
· Calculate deadlines and manage calendar entries with appropriate reminders
· Recognize deadlines and be prepared to meet those requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Actively participate in a team-oriented environment
· Self-motivated, highly organized, and efficient time management skills
· Expected to become familiar with and follow client litigation guidelines
· Ability to recognize and handle potential emergencies with poise and professionalism
· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
· Understanding of standard format for legal correspondence
· High attention to detail
· Tech savvy and experienced with Office365 (Word, Outlook, Excel, and SharePoint) and Adobe

· Assist with updating all case information as necessary during the pendency of all active cases
being handled by assigned attorneys
· Downloading court files and saving to electronic file
· Converting and saving/sending/serving/filing documents in Word and Adobe
· Aiding attorneys in preparing exhibits for hearings, depositions, and trial

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
· Minimum of 2 years of experience as a legal assistant in a defense litigation firm

· High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s degree preferred


WORK HOURS
· Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required to meet client needs / deadlines
