Lewis-Burke Associates LLC (Lewis-Burke) is seeking qualified applicants for a position as a Legislative Research Assistant based in Washington, DC. Lewis-Burke is a federal lobbying and consulting firm held in high regard for our research, education, science, technology, and healthcare policy expertise. The firm represents some of the country’s largest public and private research universities and scientific organizations. Our Legislative Research Assistants receive immersive advocacy and consulting training and are tasked with a broad range of responsibilities including:
Starting salary for this position is $47,500-$50,000 depending on experience. Lewis-Burke’s benefits package includes generous vacation and sick leave as well as employer contributions to health insurance and retirement savings.
Ideal start date is January 1-15th but negotiable.

- Researching, analyzing, and summarizing substantive policy issues, funding opportunities, and relevant legislation of interest to our clients
- Developing expertise in a specific portfolio of issues
- Attending, analyzing, and reporting on congressional hearings, agency advisory committee meetings, and other policy events
- Helping to build and maintain client relationships through daily or weekly funding and policy updates
- Scheduling and preparing materials for internal and external meetings
- Providing operational support during client events
- Producing and distributing policy-oriented newsletters
- Assisting with general administrative tasks in support of client teams and firm priorities

- Excellent writing skills
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with individuals at all levels, including proficient public speaking skills
- Attention to detail
- Effective time management and prioritization skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of multiple teams in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
