Scope of Job:
This role is provides assistance to the Retail Buying department specific to replenishment buying tasks. This role will assist with the procurement, planning, controlling and managing the intake and distribution of merchandise throughout the resort. Provide sales and inventory data and reporting to buyers, vendors and Retail Operations team. This position is responsible for active communication and collaboration with Retail & Warehouse Leadership teams.
This is a 1 year, temporary/seasonal position within LEGOLAND California Resort. The position will work approximately 32-40 hours a week, dependent on the needs of the Business.
Key Objectives:
- Place vendor reorders for assigned vendors/categories.
- Work with Buying team on store replenishment and vendor orders; point-person for service vendors.
- Review advance-planned orders according to schedule and make needed adjustments.
- Support LEGO buyer in managing LEGO orders and data.
- Provide regular stock reports, merchandise assortment, on-order, product knowledge, price change information to Retail Ops, Visual team and Allocator.
- Manage and maintain buying files and provide data entry.
- Maintain product database: vendor set-up, items, barcodes, pricing, price changes, etc.
- Resolve Receiving discrepancies and needs.
- Manage promotions, GWPs, markdowns with Retail Ops and Visual team.
- Coordinate store transfers and consolidations with Allocator and Visual Team.
- Communicate Accounting and Coupa concerns with appropriate parties.
- Maintain open-to-buy files.
- Regularly produce relevant analysis as required highlighting areas of opportunity.
- Assist Buying team in maintaining and updating Web proof approvals.
Main Responsibilities:
- Operational
The Junior Buyer will liaise with the store operation to provide timely communication on all aspects of merchandise assortment to maintain stock levels through replenishment orders. The role will require that they develop a thorough knowledge of the existing stock management system.
- Financial
The job holder will be required to communicate by in writing, via telephone, Teams/virtual office platforms and through email with both internal and external contacts and vendors. The Junior Buyer will provide all aspects of maintaining vendor files, particularly but not limited to, Code of Conduct, Vendor Compliance, product safety and ethical sourcing.
This role will be responsible for assisting the Buying team with management of an Open-to-Buy tool for reporting monitoring and purchases, working within budgets for stock inventory. The position will provide scheduled reporting and analysis to forecast sales and trends to ensure sound decision making and purchasing.
- People
The role will be required to interact with the entire Retail & Warehouse departments, internal and external vendors, guests and contacts. It is expected that the job holder develop and nurture positive working relationships. The role will work with a vendors to place reorders as directed. The Junior Buyer will act as a point of contact for the Buying team and be required to participate in Retail walkthrough and team meetings. The role will interact and provide exceptional product excellence service to our guests internally and externally.
Qualifications & Experience:Background and Experience:
- High School degree or equivalent required
- Some retail and/or administrative experience is required
- Ability to demonstrate excellent decision making skills
- Ability to multi-task and operate in an environment with evolving and changing priorities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Intermediate MS office suite of products required
- Familiarity with MS Teams and similar platforms
Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); College degree preferred.
Physical Demands:
Ability to sit for sustained periods of time to attend on-site and off-site meetings, perform paperwork activities, travel and drive.
Intermittent and prolonged standing and walking to move about the park site, and interact with employees.
Finger dexterity sufficient to complete paperwork activities and to use a computer.
Visual acuity sufficient to read written materials, to complete paperwork activities, and to drive.
Hearing sufficient to communicate with individuals in person and by telephone.
Work Environment:
Various inside and outside locations with varying temperatures and floor surfaces.
Other Job Requirements:
Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends to support park operations.
