JOB DESCRIPTION
Essential Functions
Responsible for organizing, planning, and supervising the Credit Union's consumer loan underwriting and lending operations. This position establishes and implements underwriting guidelines and operational procedures consistent with overall credit union policies. This position will work closely with the Director of Lending and Lending team members to coach, build, and manage daily operations. This is a Hybrid position but may be required to come in office more based on business need.
1. Manages and directs the consumer loan underwriting functions and direct reports to maximize productivity, efficiency, including monitoring staff performance, coaching, training and keeping the focus on core values.
2. Appraise performance and provide recommendations for staff compensation, promotion, and termination as appropriate.
- Monitors the performance of the sales team to increase loan volume and insurance sales.
- Recommends and supports the creation of new products, services, and/or lending programs to maximize credit union growth.
- Serve as Underwriter for the credit union and make immediate loan decisions.
- Responsible for training, motivating, directing and evaluating team member performance within the Lending area.
- Listen to team member phone calls, prepare scorecards, and uphold customer service standards.
- Assist team members in efficiently and effectively processing the various activities involved in credit granting, and performs additional duties as assigned by the Director of Lending.
- Support lending clerks in various capacities including but not limited to vehicle title reporting, vendor relations, and loan servicing.
- Assist in the preparation of credit information necessary to establish credit limits, including such factors as applicant's assets, credit experience, and personal references, based on predetermined standards.
- Occasionally interview applicants to obtain personal and financial data for personal, auto, home equity, and signature and credit card loans.
- Provide lending reports as needed.
13. Keep records or files of credit transactions: inquiries, loans pending, loan activity report by representative, daily loan listing.
14. Work with the Training & Development Dept to create and implement training materials and conduct ongoing lending training classes as needed.
Job Requirements
1. Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Minimum of 3-5 years of consumer lending and real estate experience.
3. Minimum of 1-3 year’s leadership experience; experience with interviewing, and training a plus.
4. Thorough knowledge of lending processes and experience with financial institution products and services.
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
6. Must have excellent written and verbal presentation and communication skills and the ability to multi-task and be flexible.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position is responsible for the direct supervision of the lending staff.
Work Environment
This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Hours worked may exceed 40 hours per week. Occasional evening and some Saturday hours may be required based on business need.
