Bilingual Fatherhood Specialist
F/T, M-F 8:30a-4:30p. Potential Hybrid schedule after 3month introductory period.
The purpose of the Fatherhood Program Specialist is to assist men enrolled in the Long Island Fatherhood Initiative (LIFI) program in their efforts to become responsible, committed and nurturing fathers. The Fatherhood Program Specialist will help dads strengthen their connection and involvement in the lives of their children by teaching programs addressing:
* healthy family relationships
* domestic violence prevention
* economic stability
Responsibilities include:
- Promote responsible parenting among low-income, at-risk fathers by delivering/facilitating the "24/7 Dad" curriculum in-person and virtually.
- Preventing family violence and child abuse/neglect by delivering/facilitating the 24/7 Dad Understanding Domestic Violence "booster" curriculum training on the impact of domestic violence on families in-person and virtually.
- Provide case management services to a small caseload of participants via phone, in person and/or virtually
- Develop a targeted case management plan with clients to identify their long-term goals and assist them with their immediate needs including short term goals. Coordinate services and participant support as needed
- Provide direct services, including support, education, and focused external referrals to other needed services such as housing, immigration, substance abuse treatment, mental health programs, food insecurity, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor Degree preferred with a minimum of two years of experience in social services, group presentations or teaching.
- Bilingual - (English/Spanish) a must.
- Reliable transportation. Ability to commute to Suffolk and Nassau Counties to support program delivery. Weekend and evening hours as needed.
- Understanding of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and/or stalking
- Excellent communication skills. Computer skills including MS Office, Google Docs, virtual platforms (Google Meet, Zoom, etc.).
